Homes and roofs in Peckham

Peckham is a borough of long Victorian terraces, and a roofer in Peckham spends much of the day on slate and tile slopes with rear returns and chimney stacks. Around Peckham Rye, Nunhead and Queens Road you also find larger family houses, flats above the shops on Rye Lane and plenty of rear extensions with flat roofs added over the years.

Where we work in Peckham

We cover Peckham, Peckham Rye, Nunhead, Queens Road and the streets towards Old Kent Road and East Dulwich. Our base in Southwark is close by, so a prompt visit is straightforward. If the roof belongs to a flat above a shop, let us know how it is reached and we will arrange safe access.

Common roof problems in Peckham

Typical Peckham problems include leaks where a rear extension meets the original wall, slipped slates on the back slope that cannot be seen from the street, and blocked valley gutters between neighbouring houses. Flat roofs over kitchens and bathrooms often fail at the upstands or outlets, and tired fascias leave gutters sagging and overflowing.

Rooflines on Peckham terraces

Long runs of terraced houses mean long runs of fascias, soffits and gutters, and when the timber behind them rots the gutters sag and overflow. We replace tired rooflines with new uPVC fascias and vented soffits and hang new gutters at the right fall. Read more about our fascias and soffits.

When a leak will not wait

If water is coming through the ceiling after a storm, call us. We respond promptly across Peckham and Nunhead, make the roof safe by replacing lost tiles or covering an open area, and then quote for the permanent fix. Our emergency roof repairs page explains what to do while you wait.

Slate repairs on the back slope

The back slope of a Peckham terrace is out of sight from the street, which is why slipped slates and failed valleys there often go unnoticed until water reaches a bedroom. We inspect the rear slopes and returns as well as the front, replace slipped and broken slates with matched pieces and repair the lead and valleys between them. Our roof repairs page explains how we trace a leak to its source.

Chimney stacks on Peckham terraces

Shared chimney stacks run along most Peckham terraces, and their lead and pointing take a beating. We repair stacks from safe access and agree the work with neighbours where the stack is shared. Read more about our chimney repairs.
