Our photographs show what that looks like in practice. The old covering comes off, the timbers are checked, and a new breathable membrane goes on before the treated battens are set out in straight, even courses across every slope, including the awkward cuts around hips and chimney stacks. Only then are the slates or tiles laid, with new ridges, hips and lead details to finish.

We install natural slate, plain and interlocking tiles and modern roofing systems, and we help you choose a covering that suits the house, its roof pitch and your budget. Your free site survey covers access, scaffold, materials and the order of work, and the quotation sets all of it out clearly before you commit. Old materials are cleared away and the site is left tidy at the end.

A new roof is also the right moment to deal with the details around it. Tired fascias, soffits and gutters can be replaced while the scaffold is up, chimney stacks can be repointed and given new lead, and roof windows can be added or renewed. Doing these at the same time saves a second scaffold later and leaves the whole roof in one condition.
